The accused, Nongmaithem Sanahal Singh, 22, of Khongjom Sapam Mamang Leikai, Thoubal district was arrested for allegedly outraging the modesty of a minor girl in February, 2019.
On interrogation, the accused reportedly disclosed that he had committed sexual assault on his own daughter.

During the programme, secretary of DLSA, Tamenglong Laishram Rina Devi stated that the programme is organised to re-sensitise all the stakeholders for effective implementation of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
The programme was held under the theme, ‘Ground level issues and challenges faced by stakeholders dealing with matters related to POCSO cases’.
The minor reportedly ran away from her stepfather's house and was picked up by a team of Imphal Police Station, and handed over to Childline, Imphal East.
