The wreath laying ceremony was organised to commemorate the supreme sacrifice by Rifleman (Late) N B Chhetri in Keithelmanbi Garrison, Imphal West district of Manipur, a release stated.
So far, 49 bodies have been retrieved and 18 were rescued out of 79 total affected by the landslide, official sources said.
Following the ceremony, the mortal remains of the subedar, identified as Sajit Subba from West Bengal, and the havildar, identified as Chandan Gurung of West Bengal, were flown to their hometown.
Floral tributes were paid to an Army officer and four soldiers among others who died in Manipur landslide.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that security forces along the Indo-Myanmar border area will be strengthened.
