Assam Rifles conducts wreath laying ceremony

Sajik Tampak Battalion under the aegis HQ IGAR (South) organised a wreath laying ceremony for Rifleman (Late) Gopal Singh Bhandari who mande supreme sacrifice while battling the insurgents at Chessore Village of Tuensang district, Nagaland, a release stated.

Sajik Tampak Battalion under the aegis HQ IGAR (South) organised a wreath laying ceremony for Rifleman (Late) Gopal Singh Bhandari who gave supreme sacrifice of his life while battling the insurgents at Chessore Village of Tuensang district, Nagaland, stated a release issued by IGAR (South) on Wednesday.

The wreath laying ceremony was organised at Sajik Tampak, Chandel district, Manipur on Wednesday, it stated. The Battalion honoured the braveheart who made the supreme sacrifice for the cause of the Nation on this day in 1997 at Tuensang District, Nagaland, it mentioned. A total of five officers, 14 Junior commissioned officers and 50 other ranks of the Battalion paid their respect by laying wreaths’ and accorded the guard of honour, it mentioned.

Meanwhile, Somsai Battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) conducted a Pre Recruitment Training and extended administrative support to the young aspirants willing to join Indian Armed Forces in Ukhrul district, it stated.

In continuation with the efforts of Assam Rifles to motivate and train the boys and girls, the pre-recruitment training capsule was conducted for CEE online examination at Ukhrul COB from 15 March- 16 April, it stated. The capsule consisted of physical and mock test training imparted by experienced instructors. Apirants belonging to far flung locations were provided accommodation and transportation free of charges, it further stated. More than 150 youths were mentally and physically conditioned to appear for the examination, it added.  

Meanwhile, Churachandpur Battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR(South) under the Theme ‘Friends of North East’ organised a motivational lecture for youths of nearby villages to join Indian Armed Forces on April 26 at Tuilumjang, it stated.  

The lecture was organised to spread awareness amongst the youths about various opportunities to join the Indian Army. Interaction with youth was also carried out to motivate them to utilise the ‘Agniveer scheme’, it stated. In addition, a physical screening test was also conducted for youth of nearby villages attending the event to assess their present physical standards and guide them to maintain the requisite standards for recruitment rally, it continued.

The youths were briefed about the upcoming recruitment opportunities for 2023 and assured of assistance and guidance from security forces to achieve their dreams to serve the nation, it stated.  A total of 20 youth attended the event and participated in the event, it mentioned.

Churachandpur Battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a Lecture cum demonstration program in consonance with ‘Observance of Malaria Week’ on Wednesday at HQ Veng, Churachandpur.
The lecture was organised to spread awareness amongst troops about prevention and control of Malaria, it stated. A demonstration on mosquito net impregnation was also conducted directed to sensitize troops regarding prevention of malaria disease.

In addition, a detailed awareness on different types of malaria prevalent in the region along with signs and symptoms and their preventive measures, it mentioned.  A total of 117 troops attended the event and participated in the event. The troops expressed gratitude to the District Malaria team for such informative events, it added.
