19 more deaths push COVID-19 death toll to 944 in Manipur

Imphal West on Friday reported seven more deaths due to COVID-19, while Thoubal, Churachandpur and Imphal East reported three deaths each.

Manipur on Friday reported 687 daily new COVID-19 positive cases, a drop from Thursday’s 730 positive cases. However, the fall in the new positive cases in a span of 24 hours may be due to the lesser number of COVID-19 test received on Friday – 7820 against Thursday’s 9008 test results.

The total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the state reached 58,768 while the death toll rose to 944 with 19 more deaths reported as per the latest update by the state health department. It stated that the new positive cases included one personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces.

Imphal West registered seven more COVID-19 deaths, highest daily death tally among the districts in the state. The district also reported maximum number of new COVID-19 positive cases at 231.

Thoubal, Churachandpur and Imphal East reported three deaths each, while Bishnupur, Kakching and Ukhrul registered one death each on Friday, according to the State level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee.

As many as 156 positive cases are from Imphal East, 64 from Churachandpur, 63 from Kakching, 59 from Thoubal, 58 from Bishnupur, 11 from Kangpokpi, nine each from Jiribam, Tengnoupal and Pherzawl, six from Senapati, four each from Noney and Chandel, two from Tamenglong, and one each from Ukhrul and Kamjong.

The cumulative of test results received as of Friday is 8,00,223, a release from the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated on Friday.

Meanwhile, it stated that a total of 1,105 COVID-19 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. Of it, 464 were in home isolation. The total number of recoveries reached 48,902. With it, the active number of cases is 8922 and the recovery rate moved up to 83.21 per cent on Friday from Thursday's 82.29 per cent.

As many as 4,57,600 people have been administered the Covid vaccine as of Friday, the state health services stated in the release.

The health department also informed that a total of 1622 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 541 B-type Oxygen Cylinders have been made available to various health facilities in the state.
