The development in the Manipur Congress party comes ahead of the final hearing of the petition filed by the Congress party for disqualification of 12 parliamentary secretaries due to he announced on July 26.

Govindas said that grassroots level workers cannot be set aside in strengthening the party.
Konthojam was appointed as president of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee by Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday in the presence of outgoing president M Okendro Singh and other senior Congress leaders.
The MLA also tendered his resignation from being the associate member of Delimitation Commission from Manipur.
