Govindas refuted the BJP government's claim of being a citizen centric government while declaring that freedom of expression no longer prevails in the state.
MPCC president Govindas Konthoujam said that the induction of the six BJP workers and the voters into the Congress party has shown that the people from the hill districts believe and trust the secular ideology of the Congress party.
Govindas said that grassroots level workers cannot be set aside in strengthening the party.
Konthojam was appointed as president of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee by Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday in the presence of outgoing president M Okendro Singh and other senior Congress leaders.
The MLA also tendered his resignation from being the associate member of Delimitation Commission from Manipur.
