Six BJP leaders, workers along with more than 200 voters of Rengpang Autonomous District Council (ADC) segment, Nungba assembly constituency in Noney district formally joined Indian National Congress on Tuesday.
To welcome them, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) organised a reception programme at Congress Bhavan Imphal.
Speaking at the occasion, MPCC president Govindas Konthoujam said the BJP government has claimed that the Congress party, during its 15 years of governance, had kept the hills and valleys divided. However, the induction of the six BJP workers and the voters into the Congress party has shown that the people from the hill districts believe and trust the secular ideology of the Congress party.
