ZYA team transports AR personnel body to hometown

he body was transported by two drivers from the ZYA team and they were back to Churachandpur on Thursday.

The body of one subedar of 46 AR Singhat Battalion was sent off to his hometown at Madhabpur, Hailakandi district, Assam by an ambulance provided by Zomi Youth Association (ZYA), Lamka block on Tuesday. The body was transported by two drivers from the ZYA team and they were back to Churachandpur on Thursday. 

The AR personnel Birendra Singha, son of Mani Singha, died on August 2 at Taikhotang near Indo-Myanmar borders after he had complaints of breathing problems. He was kept at Churachandpur district hospital’s morgue and post-mortem was done at RIMS, Imphal.

Earlier, Singhat Police Station registered a case of unnatural death but later it was confirmed that Birendra was COVID-19 positive.

Thanking ZYA Lamka block on behalf of 46 AR, Captain Ajanta Kumar said that it was only with the help of ZYA that the lifeless body of their comrade could reach his home for the last rites. Apart from duty, 46 AR will always be ready to help the people of Churachandpur in any time and place, he added.
