Thoubal Forest Division organised a rally for students and the public on Saturday, marching from Kakching Market to the range forest office in Kakching Lamkhai, as part of the 70th Wildlife Week Celebration, under the theme ‘Wildlife Conservation through Co-Existence,’ held across the globe.
The rally was flagged off by Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar from Kakching Bazar Ibudhou Naohallai Mamang. Range Officer Kakching Laishram Dinesh, Range Officer Headquarters Thoubal Ningthoujam Deepa, and Range Officer Thoubal Dineshchandra Salam, along with students from various local schools—Kakching Higher Secondary School, JRD Pathseeker’s Academy, Kakching Public School, Victory High School, General English School Sora, Khongjom Standard English School, and Phouoibi Boarding Kakching.
Football players from Keirak Foundation and representatives from various organisations in Thoubal, along with Forest Department members, also participated in the event.
Participants also held various placards with messages which read as ‘Save Trees, Save Environment,’ ‘Wildlife Our Friend,’ ‘Wildlife Has the Right to Live,’ ‘Save Animals, Save the Planet,’ and ‘Be a Hero, Save Wildlife,’ etc.
Range officer Kakching Laishram Dinesh maintained that the rally aimed to promote the conservation of wild birds and animals in the Pumlem Pat, Loushi Pat, Khoidum Pat, Kharung Pat, Ikop Pat, and Waithou Pat areas of Thoubal and Kakching districts.
