A rare bird ‘Striated Heron’ was rescued from Wangjing Heitupokpi paddy field by a group of women farmers during the harvesting process at the Sinam Roma paddy field on Friday.

The farmers handed over the bird to a member of the Joint Coordination Committee on Wildlife and Biodiversity (JCCWB), Naorem Omesh, from Wangjing Hodamba Maning Leikai.

Omesh stated that the bird would be kept under observation for some time before being safely released back.
