Heirok Police rescue Bengal Monitor Lizard

The lizard is currently under observation at a PFA shelter.

Heirok Police Station handed over a Bengal monitor lizard to People for Animals Manipur after rescuing it from one Khumanthem Sanjoy’s residence situated at Heirok part III, Ngarouthel leikai in Thoubal District on Monday.

According to police, the Bengal monitor lizard was rescued by ASI S Noren following an instruction from Thoubal senior SP and OC N Robert. Sanjoy reportedly discovered the lizard at his front gate on Sunday afternoon and safely caught it along with the locals.

The lizard is currently under observation at a PFA shelter. It will be released after consultation with the Manipur Forest department, following a deworming procedure.
