Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp will soon stop working on several iOS and Android smartphones from November 1.

Beginning November 1, WhatsApp will stop working on older versions of both Android and iOS smartphones. Simply put, WhatsApp will no longer support Android phones that are running on Android 4.0.3 or lower, and iPhones running on iOS 9 or older. The instant messaging app will be available to Android running OS 4.1 and above, iPhone running iOS 10 and above.

“WhatsApp has said that the app will not be supporting older versions of both Android and iOS. Anyone with a smartphone supporting Android OS 4.1 and above and iOS 10 and above will be the only ones who will be able to use the messaging app," WhatsApp said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the good news for JioPhone and JioPhone 2 users is WhatsApp will support KaiOS 2.5.0 and newer, so JioPhone and JioPhone 2 users can continue to use WhatsApp.

The instant messaging app has shared a list of smartphones that will no longer support WhatsApp starting November 1. If your phone is on the list, your WhatsApp account may be automatically logged out and you may lose your account. Check out the list here:
