Chairman of Pandemic Management Committee MPCC Kh Ratankumar said the oxygen cylinders have been handed over to the district hospital since it still does not have an oxygen plant of its own.
The cylinders costing Rs 10,00,000 were donated taking into account the immediate requirement of oxygen cylinders for use in the treatment of Covid patients in various hospitals and Covid Care Centres.
MNCA president RK Imo Singh had earlier distributed 10 ICU BPAP ventilators amounting to around Rs 22 lakh to the state government.
The oxygen plant machinery that arrived included one for Churachandpur which will produce 40 oxygen cylinders in a day. It will be the first in the hill district while the other is for the Thoubal plant which will produce 20 cylinders worth of oxygen per day.
IPR director Balkrisna said the Manipur government is trying its best to make sure that there is enough supply of oxygen cylinders and concentrators for Covid patients in private and government hospitals.
On May 6, 12 cylinders of 65 kg D-Type Oxygen were bought by Jiribam district administration from Assam.
To ensure that there are no shortages of medical use oxygen in the state, District Administration Jiribam will assist the state government by bringing in more oxygen from Assam, said Jiribam DC W Malemnganba Chenglei
The minister earlier donated two Bolero Campers ambulances, one each for PHC Tousem and PHC Tamei.
