Ziontlang SYC earned their place in the semi-final of the DC Chandel Trophy Second Division Football Tournament 2023 beating Charangching Khunou YC by 4-0 goals at the Sports Complex, Chandel on Tuesday.
The tournament is organised by DSA Chandel.
The first quarter final match of the tournament saw Charangching player SK Darhing giving away a goal to Ziontlang in the 9th minute of the game to put them in an awkward position.
Ziontlang SYC, who were having a tough time, lacked direction in their shot making up in the second half period. As the game was inching towards the closing moment, Ziontlang energy spurted up with TH Roungam coming up with the second goal in the 78th minute and a minute later, R Chungam struck and finally, R Franklyn sealed the fate of Charangching with the fourth goal in the 87th minute.
Charangching Khunou YC player SK Darhing got yellow card in the first half.
In the second match, Chandel Christian YC sweated out to beat Kotal Khunthak YC by 3-2 goals to book their semi final berth as well.
It was not an easy match for the host team, Chandel Christian, as they took on the Kotal Khunthak team who were not giving any space to them. But as luck would have it Chandel Christian got a bonus goal after Kotal player William conceded an own goal in the 38th minute for the lead.
Covering a fair amount of ground, Kotal Khuntak's relentless search for the goal dawned when Ashok came up with the equaliser in the 57th minute to bring back confidence in the team.
The complexion of the game changed dramatically with both teams landing attack and counter attacks and Chandel Christian gained further lead from Rucho in the 65th minute. But Kotal Khunthak replied back with Shelston picking up the equaliser from a penalty in the 71st minute.
But the anxiety ended when Kopharing fetched the winning goal for Chandel Christian in the 76th minute.
Two Chandel Christian players viz. Koganhring, Moningkham and Kotal Khunthak player Shelston got yellow cards in the match.
