Wushu players of Asian Jr Championship tour accorded warm welcome

The 11th Asian Junior Wushu Championship 2023 was held at Macau, China from August 17-20.

Manipur wushu players who contributed three medals to the Indian team in the 11th Asian Junior Wushu Championship 2023 held at Macau, China from August 17-20, were given a rousing welcome at the Imphal International Airport on Wednesday.

India sent a strong contingent of 31 members where 25 were players. Indian players managed to bag nine medals in the championship including 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 6 Bronze medals.

Out of the 11 players from Manipur, three players viz. Nongmaithem Nikhil, Jeetish Singh and Linthoingambi Laitonjam won a bronze medal each.

The other Indian players who bagged medals are Ramesh Munda (42 kg) and Dhruv (48 kg) with a gold medal each, Rahul Kumar took a silver medal in 48 kg while Tanish Nagar, Anirudh and Aman won a bronze medal each.

In the championship, host China clinched the champion title while Iran bagged the runners up title.

Wushu officials along with family members of the players, feted the players with garland upon reaching Imphal on Wednesday afternoon.
