Bipin Singh's hard-hitting knock of 68 runs helped Napsa beat UCC Blue by 4 wickets in the 20th Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament 2023-24 played aat Langthabal Public Ground, Imphal West.
Chasing a target of 179 runs set by UCC Blue in their innings, Napsa Kha Imphal did not fare well in the early overs but Bhogendro stamped his foot down to make 29 runs from 31 balls.
With the entry of Bipin Singh at the crease, the pressure was somewhat eased as he smashed 68 runs off 61 balls while Ratan remained not out with 35 runs for the victory in 28.2 overs for 6 wickets. UCC bowler Kumarkanta and Ashnikumar were the most successful bowlers claiming 2 wickets each.
Earlier in the day, UCC Blue, after winning the toss, decided to bat first where they managed 179 runs for 8 wickets from 30 overs. Opener Bishorjit and Brojen set the tone well hitting 28 runs and 38 runs respectively. Hemjit provided 40 runs but after their departures, wickets fell apart, to deny them a high score.
