UCC Blue, Uripok had a smooth sail to the quarter finals beating Model Club, Chingamakha by 2 wickets in the 20th Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament 2023-24 played at Langthabal Public Ground.
Model Club made a modest total of 145 runs for 10 wickets after winning the toss. Opener Suresh dashed off with 21 runs while Damen got 24 runs as highest contributors. UCC bowler David and Deepak bagged 2 wickets each.
UCC Red had a briliant start as opener Bishorjit shoot off with 55 runs while middle order Rajesh made 40 runs, to reached the target in 29.1 overs for the loss of 8 wickets.
Model bowler Jotish claimed 3 wickets while Damen got 2 wickets. UCC batsman Bishorjit took the Man of the Match for his 55 runs.
The first quarter final match will be played on Saturday between Napsa Kha Imphal and ESU Wangkhei.
In the other quarter finals, LCCC Chajing will face Cyclone Thangmeiband on Sunday, UCC Blue against Shadow Thangmeiband on Monday and YUCC Kwakeithel to face YWC Langthabal on Tuesday.
