The Manipur Olympic Association has lauded the golden effort of weightlifters Saikhom Mirabai Chanu for securing the first Gold medal and silver medalist Sorokhaibam Bindyarani Devi of the Indian Contingent in the Commonwealth Games 2022 at Birmingham.

The MOA expressing its gratitude said, Mirabai Chanu had done a truly satisfying performance in the 49kg category by lifting 88 kg in Snatch and 113 Kg in Clean and Jerk, giving her a total lift of 201 kg.

S Bindyarani Devi also did an excellent job as secured a silver medal in the 55 kg category competition as she lifted 86 kg in Snatch and 116 kg in Clean and Jerk (which is a Game Record). Bindyarani Devi total lift of 202 kg itself is a National Record lift in the 55 kg category.

Fencing trial for National Games

The Manipur Fencing Association is conducting an open trial selection on August 4 for 36th National Games to be held at Gujarat from September 27 to October 10, 2022. The event to be held during the trial selection on August 4 from 7.30 am onwards at Fencing Hall, SAI Takyelpat are Foil for Men and Women Team, Epee for Men and Women Team and Sabre Women Team.

Ghanendrajit Super Div

Angtha FC routed SSC Porompat by 12-0 goals in the Maharajkumar Ghanendrajit Memorial Super Division Football League 2022 played at Artificial Turf, Lamlong Thongkhong. In the other match, XI Star Sporting Union, Akhampat beat PYA Kairang by 3-1 goals. Langsingam Reamei, Glomei Apu and Gipson Kamei scored for the XI Star team while the lone goal for PYA was made by PM Rakeveiche.

MSL from August 20

The All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) has informed that the 15th Manipur State League 2022 has been rescheduled from August 20 of this month. Teams are informed to register 25 players as final list and the same shall be submitted along with team jersey numbers, positions at the AMFA office latest by August 10. Each team shall register five U-21 players (born in between 2002 and 2005) including one goalkeeper.

AMFA Cup

The 2nd AMFA Cup 2022 is scheduled to begin from September 2 and teams are informed to register their entry by August 20, 2022. Teams can register a maximum of 30 players for the Cup.
