The All Manipur Football Association has invited applications from intending Men and Women footballer players for awarding Footballer of the Year(M&W) for the year 2020-2021. Apart from it, intending candidates can also apply for Coach of the Year(M&F) with bio datas and relevant documents on or before February 18, 2022 at AMFA office. The AMFA release said, the award will be counted from November 1, 2020 to October 31, 2021 for both the categories. The awards will be distributed on the final match of ongoing 63rd Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Invitation Football Tournament 2021-22.

CC Meet: Sagolband United, Classic FA prevail; NESU and KSC split points

Sagolband United tamed NISA Thangmeiband by a solitary goal in the 63rd Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Invitation Football Tournament 2021-22 played at Artificial Turf, Lamlomg Thongkhong. NISA Thangmeiband who is under performing in the last few matches, tried to lift their game against Sagolband United but unable to get their desired effect with lack of penetrating shots. But they provided a good challenge to Sagolband United to render the first half goalless.

However, Sagolband United changed the statistic of the game in the 59 minute when Basanta came up with the lone winning goal for the victory today. SU player Lunminthang got a yellow card from referee Yulung Lungsu for a reckless foul. In other match, NESU Porompat held on KSC Kangpokpi by 2-2 goals to share a point each.

Taking great strides in the match, NESU presented a positive look in the game and gained the lead from Iliyas Khan in 7 minute of play. The KSC team who had always been in the forefront, was surprised by its opponent's agility and before they could learn more, NESU yet again, and goalscorer Iliyas Khan repeated his feat, scoring his second goal in 19 minute to enjoy the upper hand.

With its reputation at stake, KSC made several forays into the danger zone but the NESU custodian was agile. But they finally made the breakthrough when Ginminthang found the open space to push home the first goal in 42 minute.

The second half witnessed more rigorous attacks from the teams, resulting in losing a player each from red card booking. NESU player Prakash and KSC player Seinao were given the marching order in 77 minute by referee H.Mahesh for on field brawl, reducing each team to ten men.

However, it did not deter the KSC team, they made several inroads to its opponent territory and finally came up with the equaliser from Ginkholen in 90 minute to level 2-2 goals for the drawn result. NESU players Thoiba, Basker and KSC players Ginkholen got yellow cards in the match.

Classic Football Academy blanked AIM Khabam by 4-0 goals to pick up full points. Evenly fought in the first period of the game, Classic FA did the maximum damage to AIM reputation in the latter stages with Serto Worneilen Kom, Chinkhosiam Doungel, Ganningam Malangmei and S.Robert Singh scored a goal each for the deserving win.

Classic FA player L.Chinansa Awungshi and AIM player Ch.Kenson Meitei got booked with yellow cards from referee T.Ranjita Devi.

In tomorrow's matches, AMOFA Moirang will play ASSA Sangaiyumpham at 10 am while MCK will meet KIYC Khetrigao at 12.15 pm and F4C will face AFC Thoubal at 2.15 pm.

YWC Langthabal move to semi final beating PTRC during super over

YWC Langthabal makes it to the semi final getting the better of PTRC Patsoi during super over in 3rd MNCA U-16 Boy's Naorem Rajningthou Memorial Trophy 2021-22 played at Heinoupok Ground, Imphal West. The second quarter final match witnessed, YWC Langthabal scoring 118 runs for 10 wickets from 25.1 overs while in reply, PTRC Patsoi made 118 runs for 10 wickets from 28.3 overs as well, making the result a tie. Therefore super over came into force with YWC Langthabal, making 6 runs for 1 wicket from 1 over while PTRC Patsoi could manage 5 runs for 2 wickets from 0.4 overs.

Earlier in the day, batting first YWC Langthabal made steady progress with P.Rohitkumar making 19 runs while Y.Chingkhei remained not out with 25 runs to put up 118 runs for 10 wickets. PTRC bowler Tamarland Ph claimed 3 wickets while Stoneson, S.Richie bagged 2 wickets, Nongdamba Meitei and L.James 1 wickets each.

Chasing the target, Tamarland Ph made 31 runs while Stoneson got an unbeaten 23 runs and S.Richie scored 26 runs to tie the scoreline to 118 runs for 10 wickets, needing a super over to decide the fate of the game, where YWC Langthabal ultimately prevails in the end.

YWC Langthabal bowler K.Thoithoiba bagged 3 wickets while Y.Chingkhei took 2 wickets, S.Robinson, Y.Athouba, S.Dailish, Rickymenan Th fetched 1 wickets each. YWC Langthabal player Yumnam Chingkhei claimed the Man of the Match for his 25 runs and 2 wickets haul.

In the third quarter final tomorrow, YPHU Lalambung will face AKSDO Khangabok at 10 am.
