Santosh Trophy 2023-24: AMFA announces 22 players

Manipur is placed in Group C along with Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Nagaland, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

The All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) has picked up 22 players to represent Manipur in the 77th Hero National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy 2023-24 to be held at Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh from October 8-17.

The AMFA named Samson, P Renedy Singh, W Sadananda as Forwards of the team while AB Waraibou, Sh Thomas, Salman Khurshid were named as Goalkeepers.

The Defenders are M. Deny Singh, Md. Rohit, W. Arunkumar, Th. Chingkheinganba, Y. Santa Singh, Tom Joseph, S. Abhinash Singh, Shunjathan Ragui while the Midfielders are Ph. Sanathoi Meetei, Ng. Jenish Singh, Ng. Pacha Singh, Kh. Lucky Singh, Somishon Shirak, L. Sangkar Singh, Loyangamba Meitei Ak and L. Bishal Singh.

The selected players are to report on September 15 at 8 am with full kits at Artificial Turf, Lamlong Thongkhong.

The AMFA also deputed Thangjam Saran as Chief Coach with S Premjit as Goalkeeping Coach and Th Ibotombi Singh as Manager.

It may be mentioned that altogether 36 teams are participating in the championship, categorised in six groups. The group stage matches will be played in six venues viz., Goa, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, WIFA (Maharashtra) and SSCB ground while the final rounds will be played at Arunachal Pradesh.

Manipur is placed in Group C along with Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Nagaland, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and will be hosted by Uttar Pradesh Football Sangh at Greater Noida.
