Tripura got the better of host Manipur by a solitary goal to book their semi-final berth in the Men's Football of the North East Regional Sports Week 2022 played at Main Stadium, Khuman Lampak.
However despite the defeat, host team Manipur still makes it to the semi final by virtue of their big win against Arunachal Pradesh by 5-0 goals yesterday.
Debraj proved to be a trump card for Tripura today as he brought up the winning goal in 2 minute of play, enroute to the semi final. Tripura players Sumanta and Manish got yellow cards in the match.
Assam beat Mizoram by a solitary goal to sail into the semi final as well with Rakeb Basumatary fetching the winning goal in 22 minute. Mizoram players Lalthawmmawia, Lallawmkima, Lalnungmawai and Assam players Lwitw Basumatary, Situ Basumatary received yellow cards in the match.
The semi final matches will feature Assam taking on Tripura while Manipur will meet Mizoram.
As for the Women matches, Assam drubbed Arunachal Pradesh by 4-0 goals to sail into the semi final. Sonia Marak scored a hat-trick of goals for Assam while Sunila fetched one goal.
In the other matches, Sikkim beat Nagaland by 3-1 goals with Lako Phuti scoring two goals while Suju Hangma chip in with a goal for Sikkim team while the lone goal for Nagaland was made by Imcimerenla.
Tripura on the other hand beat Mizoram by 4-0 goals to book their semi final berth as well. Dipali strucks two twice while Sakchati and Dhavita got a goal each.
The semi final to be played tomorrow will have Manipur taking on Nagaland while Sikkim will face Assam.
In the Archery event, Assam claimed three gold medals while Manipur and Nagaland fetched one gold each.
The Individual Olympic Round Recurve Men saw Sanjoy Boro claiming the gold with a shot of 6 points while in Team Recurve Women, Promila Daimary, Jashna Brahma, Sonali Basumatary, Akhapwr Basumatary claimed the gold with 6 points. The third gold came from Mix Team Recurve with the pair of Production Borgoyary and Promila Daimary collecting 5 points.
The Team Recurve Men gold medal was bagged by Manipur comprising archers Ak.Amarjit, L.Yuhenba, W.Leonard and M.Malemnganba with 5 points while the silver was claimed by Assam and Nagaland took the bronze medal.
Edikunu Rikha of Nagaland claimed the gold medal in Individual Olympic Round Recurve Women with a score of 6 points while Promila Daimary of Assam and Y. Anupama of Manipur settled for the silver and bronze.
