Athletics Federation of India (AFI) associate vice president Abu Metha from Nagaland has been nominated by the Athletics Federation of India as a delegate for the forthcoming Paris Olympics Games 2024 to be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
In a letter, Secretary of AFI, Ravinder Chaudhry stated that Metha’s expertise and experience will significantly contribute to the success of the Indian delegation. Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio also congratulated Metha on his nomination and stated that his experience will greatly benefit games and sports in India, especially Nagaland.
Abu Metha, who is the associate vice president of the Athletics Federation of India is also the working president of the North East Olympic Association.
He was also the team leader of the Indian Team at the World Under 22 Athletics Championships held in Nairobi, Kenya. Under his leadership, India hosted the South Asian Cross-Country Championships in Kohima, Nagaland. He is also the convenor of the National Mountain Running Committee under Athletics Federation of India and World Athletics.
Nagaland had recently hosted the North East Olympic Games under his Convenorship, where the state team finished 2nd in the overall medals tally.
