MPSC scored a thumping 207 runs win over Napsa Kha Imphal to sail into the semi final of the 3rd MNCA Superplate Tournament 2023-24 played at Model Higher Secondary School & Oriental College Ground.
MPSC put up a brave front after winning the toss with opener Sunil hammering an unbeaten 105 runs off 90 balls while Th. Gelson scored a well deserved 122 runs from 80 balls, to pile up a massive 299 runs for 4 wickets from 35 overs.
Napsa bowler N Richer claimed 3 wickets from 4 overs for 34 runs.
Chasing the target, Napsa crumbled with three of its batsmen getting out without a score but Ch Mitamngabba contributed 24 runs while L Kipajen too made 24 runs but failed to save the match.
MPSC bowlers Bijoykumar and S Shankar bagged 3 wickets each. MPSC batsman Th.Gelson was adjudged Man of the Match for his 122 runs.
In the other match, Blue Hawk Khurai beat UCC Uripok by 112 runs at Luwangpokpa Cricket Ground, Luwangsangbam. However despite the win, Blue Hawk failed to make it to the semi final.
Blue Hawk made 195 runs for 8 wickets from 35 overs while in reply, UCC Uripok were all out for 83 runs from 25.2 overs. Blue Hawk player W. Samson took the Man of the Match award for his 25 runs and 3 wickets.
The first semi final will be played between KCC Kongba and PCC Mayaikoibi on Thursday at Model & Oriental Ground while the second semi final will have YWC Langthabal taking on MPSC Lambulane at Public Ground, Khangabok on the same day.
Napsa Kha Imphal and KSDO Kiyamgei have been relegated to MNCA Plate Group Domestic Season 2024-25.
