Sagolband United outsmarted Athletics Football Club, Thoubal by 4-1 goals to collect full points in the 15th Manipur State League 2022 played at Artificial Turf, Lamlong Thongkhong.

The real action of the match came in the 32nd minute of play when Sagoland United forward Ronik Singh Moirangthem shot home the opener with a powerful volley to the left of the keeper.

Sagolband United seemed quite contended with the goal but the persistent attack from AFC, Thoubal pushed the former into further aggression and Ch Anandkumar made a little mistake in banging home the second goal in the 55th minute to dominate the proceedings.

However, the Super Division champion from Thoubal, AFC made a diehard approach and old war horse Sahidur Rahaman did his trick, finding the net in the 63rd minute to pull up the morale of his team. But the AFC’s joy short lived as SU forward Singam Subash Singh in the 75th minute and substitute forward Th Adison in the 86th minute dashed the hope of its opponent for a comeback in the match.

AFC Thoubal players Th Thomas and Premkumar received yellow cards in the match for rough tackles.

In another match, Neroca FC thrashed NISA Thangmeiband by 4-1 goals as well. Neroca FC struck through substitute A Tomjoseph Singh in 45 plus 2nd minute of first half while Manglenthang brought up the second goal from a penalty in the 59th minute and later Md Isra Khan in the 65th minute and S Johny Kom in the 85th minute increased the tally.

The lone goal for NISA was fetched by H Telheiba in the 8th minute of play from a penalty. Neroca FC players Korouhanba L and A Tomjoseph were booked with a yellow card each.
