Manipur photographer bags Longest Bicycle Expedition 2023 title

In a first, a novice took upon a nationwide tour without any medical backup, aid or support vehicle, covering a total distance of 4,600 km with a total elevation of above 70,000 ft.

Delhi-based photographer from Manipur, Biju Samanta has bagged the prestigious India Book of Record for title “Longest Bicycle Expedition” for the year 2023. He hails from Thangmeiband, Nagampal, Kangjabi Leirak.

Biju Samanta started his nationwide solo cycle tour on June 3, 2022 as a novice. The journey took place for an approximate duration of a pre-estimated two months, travelling the toughest terrains, right from Khardungla Pass in Leh, which is one of the world's highest motorable roads, with an altitude of 18,380 ft.

This was the first time a novice took upon a nationwide tour without any medical backup, aid or support vehicle, covering a total distance of 4,600 km with a total elevation of above 70,000 ft.
