KSO Moreh block inter-school sports meet kicks off

A large number of students, teachers and parents from 14 different schools in Moreh town participated in the event. The sports meet will continue till September 12.

An inter-school sports meet, 2022 organised by Kuki Students Organisation (KSO) Moreh block was kicked off at Galngam Lentol, Moreh on Wednesday.

A large number of students, teachers and parents from 14 different schools in Moreh town participated in the event. The sports meet will continue till September 12.

Major Ravi, on behalf of colonel Raja Israel CO 5 Assam Rifles, attended the opening ceremony as chief guest and manager Integrated Check Post, Moreh T Baite attended as guest of honour.

President, Moreh Private School Association (MOPSA) KBS Maniam and president HTC Victor Limthang Touthang also attended as president and chief host. Leaders of Moreh based civil society organisations also joined the event.

Major Ravi expressed that Manipur being the power house of sports, lots of sports players are produced from this state. The inter school sports meet is also a root for the sports athletes. Being a student, every student should focus on their studies and also on sports activities, he said.

He said that Manipur is able to produce many national and international sports athletes who have brought laurels for the state and country. The students can also become international players in their future careers, he further said. He assured to give cooperation to the people and the organisers of such events in the coming future.

He said that Moreh being the international border town, students should remain free from drugs. CSO leaders should mould the career of the youths by organising such sports activities in the town, he added.

The dais members also spoke on the importance of sports in the career of students.

School students took part in a parade competition as a part of the opening ceremony. Various cultural troupes performed different cultural dances on the opening programme.

Moreh Government Higher Secondary School and Agape English School played the opening match of the inter school sports meet 2022. The two teams ended in a draw after two goals each. In the tiebreaker, MGHSS won the opening match.
