Khoirom Loyalakpa has been elected as President of Manipur Hockey for the term 2022-26 during the annual general body election held at Classic Grande on Saturday.

Along with the president, Hockey Manipur also elected 10 other executive board members. They include S Neken Singh and Chanambam Shakuntala Devi as vice-president and L Basanta Sharma as general secretary.

N Ranjit Meitei is the new treasurer while N Sanjoy Singh and Ch Memcha Devi are joint secretaries. P Bandhan Singh, S Surjit Meitei, Ng Thaba Leima and S Rina Devi as executive members.

The Manipur Hockey has also honoured Gyanendro Ningombam, president of Hockey India, conferring the title of ‘Architect of Manipur Hockey’ and also appointed him as advisor to Manipur Hockey during the AGM.

The election proceedings were overseen by Vikram Pal, senior member, Competitions and Development, Hockey India along with K Baruni, vice-president MOA, Md Gaffar Shan, PET of YAS department as observers.  Advocate L Shashibhushan was the returning officer of the election.

The new president also nominated six other vice-presidents and five joint secretaries. Apart from it, Ph Nirmalata Devi, Pakpi Devi, Olympian K Chinglensana and M Rinash Meitei have also been nominated as athlete representatives.

Three more nominations were made by the president with M Birjit Singh to handle the mantle of chief executive officer.
