The Wushu Association of Manipur (WAM) on Monday announced the names of the officials and players selected to take part in the 20th Junior National Wushu (Boys -Girls) Championships to be held in Jalandhar, Punjab from October 20 – 25.
The players were selected in the Trial Selection that was held on September 25 and 26 at Wushu Training Hall, Youth Affairs and Sports, Khuman Lampak, Imphal under the supervision of Wushu Association of India, stated a release issued by WAM founder secretary M Biramani Singh.
The selected officials are team manager –Taolu Konsam Hemchandra Singh; Taolu coach Mayanglambam Punshiva Meitei; team manager –Sanda Moirangthem Ronel Singh; and Sanda coach Moirangthem Rameshchandra Singh, WAM stated.
It stated that Under Taolu Group-A, the selected players are Chingangbam Dinesh Singh, Kangjam Monish Singh, Yumlembam Echantombi Devi, Ningthoujam Christina Devi, Oinam Malemnganbi Devi, Yengkhom Geeta Devi.
Under Taolu Group-B, the selected players are Ngangom Kajal, Langam Taniya Devi, Jona Princie Konsam, Olica Naorem, Hanjabam Langlentombi Devi, Achom Tapas, Leimapokpam Nelson Meitei, Thounganba Aheibam, Gurumayum Devesh Sharma, Wahengbam Bhumeswor Meitei, it added.
WAM stated that under Kung-Fu Events category, Taruba Khuraijam, Maisnam Diamond Singh, Mayengbam Demson, Akoijam Alex Singh, Nongmaithem Ningthiba, Maibam Priyanka Devi, Alina Maisnam, Carolina Chingakham are the selected players.
It mentioned that Pukhrambam Loya Singh - 52 kg; Laishram Newton Singh - 56 kg; Thokchom Malemnganba Meitei - 60 kg; Longiam Boyton Singh – 65 kg; Soibam Manglem Singh- 75 kg are the players selected under Sanda Youth- Boys category.
Under Sanda Youth – Girls category, the selected players are Pangambam Thoicha Devi- 48 kg; Moirangthem Rajluxmi Devi- 52 kg; Ningthoujam Priyadarshini Chanu- 56 kg; Toijam Ptiyaluxmi devi- 60 kg, it added.
It further stated that under Sanda Junior- Boys category, the selected players are Mayanglambam Dinesh Singh- 45 kg; Mayanglambam Bheigyachandra- 48 kg; Sougrakpam Sunil Singh- 52 kg; Naresh Nongmaithem- 56 kg; Huidrom Priyojit Singh- 60 kg; Yengkhom Arnold Singh- 65 kg; Kshetrimayum Henary Singh- 70 kg; Huidrom Nongshaba Singh- 75 kg; Ajit Tongbram – 80 kg.
Under Sanda Junior-Girls category, the selected players are Nongthongbam Valentina- 45 kg; Khwairakpam Chaoba Devi – 48 kg; Phuritshabam Tomthinganbi - 52 kg; Ningthoujam Abenao Devi – 56kg; Khwairakpam Lingjenthoibi Devi – 60 kg
Under Wild Card Entry (Wushu Association of India), Okram Iyathoi Meitei and Ngamba Aheibam are selected under Taolu Group-B while Khuraijam Priojit Singh- 56 kg and Mayanglambam Bishwanath Singh- 60 kg are selected under Sanda Junior-Boys, it added.
WAM also expressed its gratitude to the management of Advance Hospital for providing medical coverage during the trail selection, it added.
