Chakpikarong Youth Club (CYC) defeated BJBY Modi Youth Club by three sets one in the final to be crowned the champion of the Anal Naga Inter-Village Volleyball Tournament 2024 held at the Chakpikarong Public Ground on Wednesday night.
In the final match played under floodlights amid great fanfare, BJBY drew first blood taking the first set 11-25. However, CYC hit back to take the next three sets 25-15, 25-23 and 25-18 to be crowned the champion.
DY Joyngam and Ws Joyngam, both from CYC were declared the best spiker and best setter respectively.
Organised by the Chakpikarong Youth Club (CYC), the closing ceremony and the finale event was attened by Lh Mono, vice-president of ANCACSD as chief guest, Ps Ngahring, chief of Y/Khutha village as functional president and Ws Ruwngwar, advisor of CYC as guest of honour.
During their speeches, the guests congratulated the CYC for organizing such a tournament and encouraged all those who participated in the tournament to take sports seriously and even professionally.
Recent years have seen the rise of sports, be it football or volleyball, in the district and this is very encouraging, they stated.
The volleyball tournament saw 23 clubs from Anal villages participating with the CYC eventually emerging as the champions.
