Manipur suffered huge loss of 225 runs to Assam in Men's U-25 Cricket State A Trophy 2021-22 played at Numalijalah Parade Ground, Amingaon, Guwahati.

Assam humilated Manipur by 225 runs in the Men's U-25 State A Trophy 2021-22 played at Numalijalah Parade Ground, Amingaon, Guwahati.

Manipur who had beaten Nagaland on Wednesday were reeled down to tears with the massive loss. Upon winning the toss, Manipur decided to bowl first and paid the price as Assam piled up a huge total of 300 runs for 4 wickets from 50 overs.

Assam opener Denish Das provided a solid foundation with his team hitting 89 runs along with Nibir Deka who fetched 24 runs to cruise at a brisk pace. After the fall of both openers, Abhishek Thakuri smashed 50 runs while Saahil Jain struck 73 runs from 41 balls and Bishal Roy contributed 26 runs.

Manipur bowler Kishan claimed 2 wickets while Ch.Ranjan and Denin chip in with 1 wicket each.
In reply, Manipur opener Andyroshan and Nawaz tried to gain a firm foothold in the batting but fell out cheaply at 12 runs and 20 runs respectively.

Except for Bikash Singh who got 11 runs, the remaining batsman failed to cross the double figure mark for the defeat today. Manipur managed 75 runs for 10 wickets from 19.2 overs.

Assam bowler Mrinmoy Dutta bagged 4 wickets while Roshan Alam, Mukhtar Hussain claimed 2 wickets each and Akash Sengupta fetched 1 wicket.
