A new sporting body of the Anal Naga tribe, Anal Naga Sporting Association (ANSA), Chandel was formed on April 5, 2024 at Tampi village, Chakpikarong in Chandel district following a meeting of the Anal Naga Tangpi (ANTA), the apex body of the Anal community.
Following the formation of the sporting association, executive members were also elected who were installed to their position during an installation programme held at Chandel Khullen village Community Hall, Chandel on Friday (May 24, 2024).
ANSA president Pashel Yumas said that the association was formed with an aim to promote sports among the community and especially encourage the youths to take up sports as a career.
Sports is one of the best career options for those interested in the field. However, there is a need to guide and encourage them at the same time, Yumas said, adding that the association has been formed for this very reason.
The installation programme was attended by club presidents and their executive members of Anal villages, well wishers, board of advisors and the like.
The executive members of ANSA are Pashel Yomas as president; Tongsin Elius Anal, Ts Walno, St Thunval, Sr Angtun, Hb Chagningam as vice presidents; Langhu Saimond as general secretary; NI Wilpelngam as assistant secretary; Dy Joyngam, Sr Kagaly, Ts Warkham, Kch Anandjoy, KL Kinghman, Sp Joyngam, Bd Blair, St Angningwar, St Dorngam, Khumlo Patrick and Kt Ruwngam as sports secretaries: St Rocko as finance secretary; Jasha Sunderson as treasurer and Rd Alex and Ts Angninghman as Media and Publicity secretaries.
Other members include Bs Rihring, TO, Chandel; Bd Thundal, principal, UCC and Hb Ruwnghnem, professor UCC as board of auditors and Pashel Prakash (Chakpi Area), Sr Andrea (Western Area), Ws. Kanral (Maha Area), St Susa, Ex VP, ANTA, Nl Wolhring, chairman, KANA and KL John Mota, chairman, ALCA as advisors.
