The All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) has de-affiliated Imphal East District Football Association with immediate effect for violation of norms and conditions provided under AMFA Constitution.
A statement signed by assistant general secretary, AMFA L Naba Singh said that the AMFA had put Imphal East District FA under suspension on June 14 for not following norms, including holding of elections and failing to produce its Constitution as demanded by AMFA.
Following this, two individuals had also filed an RTI to Registrar Cooperatives Societies, for furnishing the Constitution of IEDFA and lists of elected members, which the latter replied in negative for constitution copy.
The IEDFA has also approached the High Court on the matter, stating there is no Constitution of IEDFA and election of office bearers was done on the basis of regulation. They also submitted a letter of memorandum, alleging that the Constitution of All Manipur Football Association is not recognised by the Registrar of Societies, Manipur.
On the other hand, AMFA has also asked for the same and not able to provide any substantial reply, the AMFA ordered its suspension and constituted an Ad-hoc Committee to look after the affairs of IEDFA in the backdrop of upcoming various Leagues/Tournaments.
With no favourable condition coming out as an option, the AMFA in exercise of the power given in the Constitution, had de-affiliated Imphal East District Football Association, having Registration No 252 of 1996 from the fold of apex football Association.
