Manipur claimed two gold medals in the Weightlifting event of the 36th National Games, 2022 that was held at Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
Manipur had collected 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals from Weightlifting and Fencing events.
In the Women 49kg category, the Commonwealth gold medalist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu beat compatriots Sanjita Chanu for the gold and silver medal while Sneha Soren of Odisha fetched the bronze medal.
In the Snatch, Mirabai Chanu lifted 84kg while in Clean & Jerk, she lifted 107 kg for the gold while Sanjita Chanu managed 82 kg in Snatch and 105 kg in Clean & Jerk.
Weightlifter Ph Ranibala Devi of Manipur also landed another gold medal in Women 55kg category. Ranibala Devi lifted 84 kg in Snatch and 104 kg in Clean & Jerk.
Chandigarh weightlifter Veerjit Kaur with 180 kg and Odisha lifter Pramila Krisani with 167 kg took the silver and bronze medals.
Manipur also claimed two bronze medals from the fencing event on Friday. In the Women Sabre semi final, L Abi Devi got defeated in the hand of Punjab fencer while in the Sabre Team semi final event, Manipur fencers Th Diana, L Abi, Th Sana and H Anapriya got defeated in the hand of Punjab.
In the Senior Men's 61 kg category, L Chingkheinganba Meetei finished in fifth spot.
As for the Women 1500 meter race, Huidrom Bhumeshwori Devi had to contend with 12th position. Ashif Khan of Manipur came in ninth position in the Men's 20 km Race Walk.
