Eruption from the sun is likely to hit planet Earth on February 9-10, which may trigger geomagnetic storm, according to reports based on the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) mission’s Large Angle and Spectrometric Coronagraph.
Barely a few days ago, the Center of Excellence in Space Sciences in India mentioned in a tweet that a filament eruption was observed on the Sun south of disk center.
“A filament eruption was observed on the Sun south of disk center on 06 FEB. SOHO LASCO detected a partial halo CME being launched soon thereafter,” the Center of Excellence in Space Sciences tweeted along with an image of it.
The eruption was recorded by the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) mission’s Large Angle and Spectrometric Coronagraph (LASCO), said CESS.
Earlier, on February1, the Center of Excellence in Space Sciences tweeted: "A solar magnetic storm (CME) is on its way to impact Earth; estimated time of arrival 2 February late evening to 3 February morning (Indian Standard Time). Its speed of impact is estimated to be modest, however. We may expect minimal to moderate perturbations".
