‘Curtail Raiser of Manipuri Poetry Day 2022’ as a part of the Manipuri Poetry Day was organised by Meragee Thanil, department of English of St Joseph University, Nagaland at the seminar hall of the university on Friday.
St Joseph University, Dimapur stated that the event was participated by 17 students from BA, MA along with English department professor Selvin Vedamanickam. The participants recited poems on various themes including appreciation of the beauty of Manipur, love memory, and nature.
On the occasion, the HOD of the English department Thokchom Sunanda Devi stated that the Manipuri Poetry Day was observed to honour the life and works of notable poets of Manipuri literature and to pay homage to the rich and unique literary tradition of the Manipuri language as well, it informed.
It continued that the English department of St Joseph University, Nagaland had been organising Manipuri Poetry Day every year since 2019.
