The Zeliangrong Students’ Union Delhi (ZSUD) on Wednesday stated that it is shocked and dismayed to learn about  the inhuman massacre of three persons from Lamhainamdi village under Peren district, Nagaland on Monday.

The massacre of innocent lives and unhindered firing upon unarmed and unsuspected farmers by a group of fully armed men with sophisticated weapons is a worst form of cowardice and there is no place for such barbaric actions in a civilised society, a release stated. The ZSUD appealed to the government and the law enforcing agencies concerned to take prompt action and arrest the culprits and punish them, it stated.

“We also appeal to all Naga National Workers irrespective of the organisations to come forward and extend active cooperation to arrest the culprits and award befitting punishment. This is the time to show your commitment and integrity if you ever claim to be working for the interest of the Nagas. Your silence and turning a blind eye to this heinous crime happening under your own nose would be taken by the Zeliangrong people and the Nagas in general as an endorsement and encouragement to such criminals,” the release mentioned.

ZSUD firmly believes that any misunderstanding or conflicts should be resolved amicably through mutual discussion without resorting to violence, it stated. The organisation extends its solidarity and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members, it further stated while adding the souls of the departed may rest in peace.
