The Television and Cine Foundation (TCF) Manipur celebrated its 18th foundation day at the MSFDS, Imphal on Sunday.
As part of the observance, eight budding filmmakers were felicitated with TCF’s Young Achievers Award for their outstanding contribution to the cultural and artistic landscape of Manipur.
The young filmmakers include Ashish Hamom, Manna Phanjoubam, Dingku Thingnam, Tushar Nongthombam, Rajiv Oinam, Khaba Maimom, Bishwajit Sharma and Ashok Veilou.
Moreover, eight established state filmmakers, who had achieved awards and recognitions on national and international festivals, were also felicitated. The filmmakers are Haobam Pabankumar for ‘Pabung Syam’ and ‘Joseph’s Son’, Borun Thokchom for ‘I Rise’, Meena Longjam for ‘Andro Dreams’, Romi Meitei for ‘Eikhoigi Yum’, Saikhom Ratan for ‘Beyond Blast’, James Khagembam for ‘Meiram’, Khwairakpam Bishwamittra for ‘Eewai’ and Maibam Amarjit for ‘Highways of Life’.
It may be mentioned that TCF was founded in bringing about a good cinema culture in early 2000s and had been striving relentlessly to promote the film culture in Manipur.
The foundation has been organizing various film related workshop, seminars, and monthly film screening and discussion on every last Saturday in collaboration with Manipur State Film and Development Society.
It’s members and advisors include prominent film figures who had ushered remarkable national and international laurels to Manipur.
Founding TCF president Oken Amakcham, renowned theatre and film figure Dorendro Loitongbam, Film Forum Manipur chairman L Surjakanta among other prominent film personalities of the state took part in the observation.
