Noted film director Laimayum Surjakanta has made a digital remake of 1980 Manipur feature film Ningol which could not make it to the big screen due to technical issues and is all set for its release on the big screen this mid October.

Three music videos which use the original songs recorded in the 80s for the film by renowned singers Hamom Naba, Haobam Nimai and Arambam Jamuna were released at the office of Film Forum Manipur (FFM) in Imphal West on Wednesday.

The three songs are Bombay Mithai, Khoimu Lokpa Leirang and Kainaibagi Kalaba Cheina.

All the songs are still considered as the golden songs of that era, said Surjakanta who is also the chairman of FFM.

Surjakanta expressed regret over an unfortunate incident due to which the film could not make it to the big screen in the 80s. He said that the remake will still be able to bring back the taste of the 80s.

Produced under the banner of Sajik Thaba Films by H Rishikesh Sharma, the remake has a cast of actors such as Sadananda, Gokul, Kaiku, Idhou, Sunny, Loken, Romita, Bala, Kripaluxmi, Suniti, Nongthanganbi and many others, he added.

Unlike most of the film, Ningol does not focus on a single character, it is a film about a family, he said.
