The Manipuri experimental film ‘Delusional Decays’ by Tushar Nongthombam got the ‘Special Mention Award’ for Emami Art Experimental Film Festival, 2024 in the ‘long duration film category’ of the 3rd edition of the festival held from 6-10 November at Kolkata.
The festival had been organised in collaboration with Goethe Institut Max Mueller Bhavan, AG Kurzfilm (German short film association), Kolkata Center for creativity, Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, Canada Council for the arts, Coventry Biennial and embassy of Switzerland in India and Bhutan.
The experimental film ‘Delusional Decays’ delves into the psyche of those yearning to escape the harsh grip of reality.
It explores deep-seated conscious and subconscious thoughts accumulated since childhood, expressed through evocative body movements that mirror our inner turmoil and desire for balance.
This film serves as both a reflection and a rebellion. It is an artistic expression born out of collective trauma, demonstrating the tenacity and creativity that thrive even in the darkest times.
This work captures the universal craving for escape, questioning the delusions we embrace and the alternative realms we seek to survive.
