Manipur Governor La Ganesan paid rich tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Prime Minister of India, on his birth anniversary.

The governor said: “Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the great statesman who was a strong pillar of Indian politics, his policies and leadership qualities moved the country towards a rapid and iconic path of development."

"He was an Indian politician, statesman and a poet who served three times as the Prime Minister of India. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on 25 December 1924. This country can never forget Atalji’s contributions. Under his leadership, the country proudly grew in stature in the field of nuclear power also”.

Remembering the politician, the governor said that in recognition of his invaluable contributions towards the development of the country, he was honoured with the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour by former President Pranab Mukherjee in 2015.
