Umroi airport to be named after Brington Buhai Lyngdoh, Baljek airport after Captain Williamson A Sangma

While the Umroi airport in Ri Bhoi district will be named after former chief minister Brington Buhai Lyngdoh, while the Baljek airport in Garo Hills will be named after first chief minister of Meghalaya Captain Williamson A Sangma.

Two airports in Meghalaya will be named after two statesmen, who both had led the people during the hill state movement and later as chief ministers.

While the Umroi airport in Ri Bhoi district will be named after former chief minister Brington Buhai Lyngdoh, while the Baljek airport in Garo Hills will be named after first chief minister of Meghalaya Captain Williamson A Sangma.

This was announced by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma while giving his reply to a discussion in Assembly on the fifth day of the Autumn Session on Thursday.

He said that renaming the two airports was in honour and respect to the two "tall" leaders of the state.
