Meghalaya: Two apprehended Bangladeshi nationals handed over to BGB

As per BSF sources, the two had come towards the border in South Garo Hills and inadvertently entered the Indian territory on November 20. They were apprehended immediately.

Two Bangladeshi nationals, who had inadvertently crossed over into Indian territory and were apprehended in Meghalaya by the Border Security Force (BSF) were handed over to their counterparts, the Bangladeshi Border Guards (BGB) as a gesture of goodwill, according to BSF sources.

The two Bangla nationals, identified as Md Akhter Ujjaman (43) and Md Amirul Islam, (18), were handed over to the BGB Monday morning.

As per BSF sources, the two had come towards the border in South Garo Hills and inadvertently entered the Indian territory on November 20. They were apprehended immediately.

“BSF always adopts a humanitarian approach in cases of inadvertent crossing and minors. Both the border guarding forces have developed an understanding on such subjects and these issues are amicably resolved, to strengthen the existing relationship and to enhance mutual trust between both the neighbouring countries,” said the Public Relation Officer of BSF, Meghalaya Frontier.
