The Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Delhi (ZSUD) and the Zeliangrong Welfare Association, Delhi (ZWAD) observed the 108th birth anniversary of India's freedom fighter Rani Gaidinliu.
On the occasion, associate professor Achinglu Kamei, Department of English, ARSD College, University of Delhi, spoke on, ‘Life Lessons from Rani Gaidinliu’s Extraordinary Life’, a release stated.
"Rani Gaidinliu was not only the leader of Zeliangrong community but also a leader of this country," the release quoted Kamei as saying during a webinar organised by the ZSUD and the ZWAD to commemorate the event.
The acknowledgement and recognition posthumously given by the Government of India are clear evidence of her contribution to this great nation, she added.
Kamei also expressed happiness on conferring Padma Shri 2023 to Ramkuiwangbe Newme, a follower of Rani Gaidinliu from Assam in Social Work (Culture), for conservation and preservation of Heraka religion, the release mentioned.
The webinar was attended by several Zeliangrong people from across India, the release added.
