‘Zomi National Day’ observed in Churachandpur

The observance was marked by a mass blood donation at the  Blood Bank of Churachandpur District Hospital.

A brief observation of the 76th ‘Zomi Nam Ni’ or Zomi National Day was held at Zomi Council Complex, Khominthang, New Lamka in Churachandpur district under the theme, ‘Striving towards Unity and prosperity’ on Tuesday.

ZRO cabinet member and other leaders led by ZRO vice president Kenneth Muan hoisted the Zomi National Flag at the event organised by Zomi Students Federation (ZSF),  Zomi Youth Organization (ZYO), Zomi Mothers’Association (ZMA).

In his speech, Kenneth Muan spoke on the theme of the observances and talked about the importance of unity to achieve a set goal. “In this time of crisis, there is room for anyone, including leaders, to make mistakes which we must understand as we live in a civilised world,” he said.

During the observation, Zomi Council chairman John K Ngaihte delivered the ‘Zomi Nam Ni message stating that “together, we will strive toward our goal and prosperity will soon welcome us as Unity is our strength,” he said.

The occasion also witnessed a mass prayer led by reverend Khen P Tombing.

The observance was marked by a mass blood donation at the  Blood Bank of Churachandpur District Hospital which was organised by the ZSF where a total of 63 youths donated blood which includes 13 females.
