The Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Delhi (ZSUD) organised a Zeliangrong political movement consultative meeting with Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) on Saturday.

According to a statement issued by the ZSUD, the consultative meeting was organised to provide a platform for consultation with the leaders in Delhi and invitees from other cities and places. The objectives of the consultation included defining the concept and purpose of the Zeliangrong political movement in the context of the current political circumstance vis-à-vis the current initiatives undertaken by ZUF based on the historical legacy of Zeliangrong People Convention (ZPC), the ZSUD said in a statement.

The ZSUD stated that the consultation was organised sensing the urgency and the importance of Zeliangrong political movement to be carried forward for pragmatic and early settlement of Zeliangrong political issues.

The interactive consultation affirmed and persuaded that the Zeliangrong political movement is a collective belonging of all the Zeliangrong kindred people and tribes living within the Zeliangrong inhabited territory. As such, collaboration and support of all sections of the society without prejudice is essential and constituting a State Demand Committee an urgent necessity, the ZSUD stated, adding that it stands clear and is welcome to provide a platform for any such democratic dialogue or consultations to any group as long as it stands for Zeliangrong aspiration even in the future.

The consultative meeting was joined by representatives of Inpui Students’ Union Delhi and Zeliangrong Students Unions from various metropolitan cities of India, scholars, intellectuals, senior leaders, church leaders, and professionals living across cities, and leaders of ZUF.

Meanwhile, ZUF stated that the consultation, organised and moderated by the ZSUD, concluded with observations and shared understanding made on the Zeliangrong political movement.

Views, opinions, suggestions and the inputs made by the panelists and participants during the session were relevant to the ongoing process undertaken by ZUF with the Government of India, a release issued by deputy secretary, Ministry of Information and Publicity Alur Seikho stated.

One view made on the session was that the Zeliangrong movement must be politically pursued in a peaceful and democratic manner, for which the ZUF has entered a mutual and official agreement with the Government of India on December 27, 2022, it added.
