Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Saturday said that funds have been released for setting up of Youth Skill Centre in Imphal West, Imphal East, Churachandpur, Senapati, Ukhrul and Chandel.

Addressing the one-day workshop on Startup Manipur organised by the Planning department at Sangai Conference Hall, Hotel Imphal on Saturday, Biren said that the present government is focused not only in developing good infrastructure but has also set a vision on jobs for every household other than government service.

The government cannot give government jobs to every household but can facilitate at least one earner in a family, he added.

The chief minister further said that through the Startup Scheme, many people have started getting jobs. So far, as many as 6,000 entrepreneurs have benefited from the scheme and viewing the advantages of Startup Scheme, the state government had increased its budget to Rs 100 crore for this year which was Rs 30 crore in previous budget, the CM said.

Apart from this, the state government is going to get support from NEDFI, Guwahati under Venture Fund from this year for Startup Manipur, Biren said.

While encouraging the entrepreneurs, he said that anybody who faces difficulties in applying for Startup can even complain through his social media account or CM da Haisi or send personal messages to his mobile number. He also appealed to people of the state to generate innovative ideas and avail the benefit of the scheme.

He stated that Manipur is lagging behind in Information Technology despite the fact that the present generation is shifting from industrial to IT world.  Intellectual circles who are experts in this field should motivate the younger generation by letting them know its scope and advantages and to opt for this sector, he said.

Biren said that the state government was planning to construct a cement concrete road that will last for 40 to 50 years through the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank that is worth Rs 3,600 crore.
