The directorate of handloom and textiles has clarified that vide notification no. HL-45/H&T/2017 issued on April 24, it had informed that yarn suitable for certain handloom production will be made available at Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation (MHHDC) through toll free number 18005720906.
Besides the availability of yarn at subsidised rate, the Director of Handloom and Textiles also informed that vide notification dated May 20, it was informed that handloom weavers of Manipur can also sell their finished products through the same toll free number, it stated.

On the advice of Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles, Government of Manipur, the Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Cooperation Ltd vide their notification No MHHDC-8/cloth/2015 dated April 6 informed the handloom weavers to contact the manager of the Corporation for purchase of certain handloom cloths suitable for use during the lockdown, it added.
It stated that the appeal made by the proprietor of Leima Traders, Kh Chanu Leimatombi through local newspaper is the one that the government has taken up with necessary steps and actions. It further appealed the handloom weavers to contact the OME, MHHDC manager, Th Ravi Singh through the toll free number for details on handlooms, it added.
