'World Population Day, 2022' was observed under the aegis of the District Health Society, National Health Mission, Churachandpur at the auditorium of the GNM Training School, Churachandpur. The day was observed with the slogan 'Parivar Niyojan Ka Apnao Upay, Likho Tarakki Ka Naya Adhyay' which literally translate to 'Adopt family planning measure and write a new chapter of progress’.
The observation was graced as chief guest by the CMO of Churachandpur, Dr Kimngaihching Simte; as Functional president by MS of District Hospital, Dr T Valalkungi; as guest of honour by the in-charge principal of GNM Training school, Surlaxmi while DFWO/DIO Dr Kh Sania Monica was the chief host. GNM training school students and ASHA workers of the district also attended the event.
Dr Kimngaihching Simte said that world population day is not about birth control but about family planning and the care for the mother and child, including child marriage and birth control but not abortion. She said that if someone wants a big or small family, they have to articulately plan about the duration of the child birth as per the requirement, especially the health of the mother.
Dr Kh Sania Monica said that the day is observed on 11 July every year but due to some technical issue it was held on Thursday while stressing about creating awareness for the rights of a mother and women as per WHO guideline.
The programme also witnessed demonstration of contraceptive methods from Damhoihching from ANM Post - Partum Center, DH, Churachandpur to the ASHA workers.
