World Mental Health Day organised by district health society Tamenglong was observed at district Hospital Tamenglong on Monday.
Chief medical officer Tamenglong Dr G Majachunglu, district surveillance officer Tamenglong Dr Rochunlung Savio Kamei and district nodal officer Dr Aashif Khullakpam attended the programme as chief guest, guest of honour and president of the function respectively.
In her speech Dr G Majachunglu reflected on the adage, ‘An idle mind is a devil’s workshop’. She encouraged the students to work hard and maintain mental health. In order to achieve great things in life, a person needs to maintain a healthy mindset, she said.
She also interacted with the students to involve themselves in constructive ideas and discussions.
Dr Aashif Khullakpam emphasised the importance of maintaining mental health in making a healthy society.
He also requested all the principals of the school to cooperate with the district mental health team in giving awareness about mental health among the students.
The programme continued with the prize distribution of the 3rd District level poster making competition. The poster making competition was organised by the District Mental Health Program under the theme, “Make Mental Health and well being for all a global priority.”
Around 20 students from different schools of Tamenglong participated in the competition. Of the 20 students, Gaiguangdai Kamei studying in Class X at CGS Tamenglong; Ninguanliu Kamei studying in Class XII at Don Bosco School, Tamenglong and Lucy Kamei of Tamenglong Higher Secondary School bagged first, second and third position respectively.
Three Consolation prizes were given to Keziah Daimai and James Lalnghaklien who are studying at Tamenglong College, and Jianthim Kamei studying in Class X at CGS.
