Women’s convention resolves to start hunger strike

In a convention held at Singjamei Thongkhong on Sunday, speakers from various backgrounds highlighted the various loopholes of both CSOs and state governments in tackling the present crisis.

Participants of the women’s only convention ‘Mama Oibising gi Aroiba Warep’ organised by Thawai Meerel Women Wing resolved to start a mass hunger strike from August 21 till authorities meted out swift substantial measures to rein in the present Manipur crisis.

In the convention held at Singjamei Thongkhong UYO community hall on Sunday, speakers from various backgrounds highlighted the various loopholes of both CSOs and state governments in tackling the present crisis.

Based on the feedback of the participants and the guest speakers, the convention ultimately resolved to start the mass hunger strike till all CSOs united under a collective apex front and till a proper crisis management measure was worked out in the assembly sitting.

The convention also demanded both the Central and state authorities to completely annihilate narco-terrorists from the state of Manipur and start fencing Manipur’s international border with Myanmar.

Speaking to the media, the participants decried the alleged lethargic actions of the Central and state authorities in resolving the issue and maintained that the women of Manipur would take matters into their own hands if the authorities continued their delay tactics.

The convention also mapped various measures for the people to aid in resolving the long-drawn turmoil. Women, mostly mothers from various regions of the valley took part in the convention.
