Womenfolk hold protest over missing person

Protesters demand authorities to ascertain whereabouts of Th Raghumani, who has gone missing since June 14.

Womenfolk of Khonghampat Awang Leikai in Imphal West district on Tuesday staged a sit-in protest, demanding authorities to ascertain the whereabouts of Thoudam Raghumani Singh who had been missing since June 14.

The sit-in staged at Khonghampat Awang Leikai Community Hall saw protesters holding placards urging the authorities to initiate an investigation into the missing case of Thoudam Raghumani Singh.

Thirty-year-old Thoudam Raghumani Singh is the son of Thoudam (O) Bilashini Devi of Khonghampat Awang Leikai.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the protest, sister of Raghumani, Thoudam Pushparani Devi mentioned that her brother went missing on June 14 after he went out on his Dio scooter in the morning.

“We do not know what happened to him, where he went and have lost all contact with him since that day,” she said.

She stated that the family has been restless ever since the incident and have urged the government to initiate a thorough investigation on the missing case and bring Raghumani back to his family.

She also demanded authorities to protect innocent civilians who are not part of the ongoing crisis in the state and appealed to the government to restore peace and normalcy.

“I plead with the government to start the investigation swiftly and restore peace and normalcy in the state for the sake of innocent civilians,” she added.
